Calibrator
A calibrator is used in order to carry our calibration, this is the comparison between measurements. The calibrator will be used to test the measurement of one device against another device. The device that it will be compared against will be known as the standard, this will be the standard that is required. There are many different products that are required to be calibrated. Most commonly there will be calibration carried out motor vehicles engines or on engineering products. Generally the calibration will be carried out by professionals using advanced machinery, although in some cases it is possible for calibration to be carried out by individuals.
A calibrator can come in many different forms, although it will usually be an instrument or a sensor. It will have been designed in a way so that it meets certain accuracy standards. The process of calibration is adjusting the other product towards the specification that the calibrator is set at. Calibrator will vary in form and function and this will usually depend upon the instruments being used. In cases where individuals wish to calibrate their own products they will be required to purchase a calibrator; these are available for purchase from many different locations.
A black body calibrator will be used in order to calibrate infrared pyrometers and this will usually consist of a target plate.
This will be used to calibrate temperatures and other infra red products. Block calibrators are also used in order to calibrate temperatures.
